Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey

I finally read the book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey.  So, this is nothing against my parents, but they're old school.  They didn't sit me down and talk about men in detail.  It wasn't explained to me what the male role was in a female's life.  I gathered my own idea from the things that my father did, but y'all get the point.  Anyway, I was very hesitant on reading the book because I heard so much negativity about it.  So, I joined the Black Expressions Book Club and ordered the book.  I read it, and  I LOVED IT.  I didn't agree with everything in the book, but Steve Harvey made some great points that stuck out.  I realized that a man who loves a woman will profess it, protect her, and provide for her.  Simple as that....I've been single since 2004, and so many men look at me crazy when I expect to go out on a public date...LOL. I started to believe that the only way I would get a good man is if I allowed him to come to my house for the first date, but I had a few men that still gave me hope.  Anyway, Steve Harvey proved my parent's and my point.  A man who is interested in you will take you out on dates.  Expecting him to do so doesn't make a woman a gold digger.  So, that was my biggest take away. I just love the simplistic manner in which the book was written.  I won't say that it'll be my man bible, but it definitely gave me a different perspective on men, their emotions, how they think, etc.  So, if you haven't done so, you should definitely get a copy of his book. It's great.  :)

Seize All Moments!

Last night I had a show in Smyrna at Jimiz Lounge.  I got there a little late.  One of my friends from school, who I hadn't seen in years, called me and said he was coming out.  Honestly, I didn't believe him.  Y'all know me and my issues...lol.  Anyway, so I can in there, the crowd included a few people.  So, I actually performed 5 songs.  My voice didn't crack.  I think I only hit like one bad note.  When I got done, this hair stylist offered to work for me for a flat monthly fee.  My friend offered to jump on board and become a part of the team.  The owner wants me to come back out next week.  So, I'm quite excited about this.  I could be that diva type of artist and say, "The audience wasn't large enough, not going back, blah, blah, blah!"  But, I'm not.  I will be back next Wednesday to perform.  Very thankful for the opportunities that God is blessing me with.  Thanks for being on the journey with me.  As always, follow me on twitter at @T_RayBiz.  Download the music on iTunes or Amazon or Reverbnation or....LOL.  Ok, I'll stop.  Make sure you spread the word!
